The results are in! ALPHAFLOOR is THE quietest floor system in Australia. 35mm ALPHAFLOOR Floor System scored a whopping DnTw 55 (equivalent of Rw + Ctr 60) for Airborne Sound Transmission and LnTw 54 for Impact Insulation. This exceeds the NCC requirement for Airborne Sound Transmission in Class 2 buildings by 10 dB! By way of comparison a 150mm concrete slab with a suspended plasterboard ceiling achieves DnTw of 47 for Airborne Sound and LnTW of 63 for Impact Insulation. Which means ALPHAFLOOR reduced Airborne Sound Transmission by an extra 8 dB than a 150mm concrete floor system, and reduced Impact Noise by an extra 9 dB. 8 dB is a SIGNIFICANT difference, it means 8X less sound energy. In real world terms it will block ~50% more perceived airborne noise. Don’t forget that 35mm ALPHAFLOOR floor system is a small fraction of the cost of a suspended concrete slab, and is installed in a fraction of the time by your carpenters on timber or steel floor joists. The table below compares the performance of ALPHAFLOOR with some of the other popular floor systems in Australia.

“ALPHAFLOOR is a fantastic product and one that really aligns with our brand of building a quality home with innovative products. We would recommend this product to anyone wanting a solid concrete feel with the added benefit of boosting the BASIX star rating at the same time.” – Christian Romano – Estimating and Procurement Manager & Steve Licastro – Construction Manager
